Every October, the world turns pink a powerful symbol of unity, hope, and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. In South Africa, the Pink Drive, founded in 2009, has been a major force behind this movement. The initiative has done incredible work from purchasing mammogram machines and has created impactful awareness programs across the nation.
Their vision remains clear and strong:
“Early detection can help prolong life.”
Why does an entire month turn pink? Because the numbers are alarming ,so many women continue to lose their lives to breast cancer. Chances are, as you read this, you can think of someone you know who has faced this battle.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO),
“In 2022, an estimated 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer, and 670,000 died globally.”
This October, EPIFEM Health joins the global call.
We invite you to wear pink, share a message of hope or prayer, and if possible, donate toward initiatives that save lives. Together, we can continue improving access to healthcare and celebrate the growing number of survivors because we truly are winning this battle. Please do tag us when you share your pink moments.
A Story of Hope: Meet Ellah

Today’s blog features the inspiring story of Ellah, a beautiful woman in her early 50s ,kind, generous, and full of light. She loves interior designing and her love inspired her to be a founder of Kimella Interiors (follow her on instagram @Kimella_interiors). Her gentle voice and unwavering optimism bring warmth wherever she goes. She happens to be my aunt.
Ellah’s Journey
“I’m Ellah.I’m 53 years post-treatment, and this is my journey as a breast cancer survivor.”
I’ve always been attentive to my body. One morning, I noticed tiny spots on my bedding near my pillow. That small observation led to a life-changing discovery -a lump.
I immediately consulted my GP, and within days, I had a mammogram, Pap smear, sonar, and X-rays, followed by a biopsy on the same day. The diagnosis came: breast cancer.
It was a moment of fear and uncertainty. But I wasn’t alone. With the unwavering support of my surgeon, my beautiful niece Dr. Nshali, my family, and the Unitas Radiologist team, I faced the journey head-on.
On May 28, I underwent surgery, and a month later, radiation therapy began. There were incredibly tough days ,moments of pain, fatigue, and doubt. But through it all, I found strength in resilience.
Today, I am healed and healthy. I continue five years of hormonal therapy, and I’m proud to say:
I’m a breast cancer survivor.
Breast cancer was tough but I’m tougher.I’ve discovered strength I never knew I had, and I’m embracing life with renewed appreciation and gratitude.

EPIFEM Health celebrates Ellah and every woman who has faced breast cancer with courage and grace.Your stories remind us that awareness saves lives, and hope keeps us going.

while at BMW for a car service, a beautiful pink car caught my attention. They invited everyone to write messages of hope for people fighting breast cancer. My heart immediately thought of Aunt Ellah ,her strength, her journey, her courage.I wrote my message and sent it to her, as a reminder that her story continues to inspire hope in so many hearts.

Thank you for reading this blog . Next week we dive more into what you need to know about this fatal disease.
